There has been a lot that has happened in my life over the past few months. I've been time traveling a lot, trying to figure out the meaning of my existence and all that fun sorta schtuff.

Also, there have been a few people who were in the game who are no longer eligible. The reason? Well, because they are a bunch of dramatic, high-school shitbags (pardon my French and some were only that way out of association, but still I must cleanse just the same).

So, their names will be removed as they don't deserve a chance at a seat for the fun. Also, their points will be taken away and I will give them out to those who are worthy and actually enjoy the game without feeling the need to be childish.

I have been busy at work and needed to sift through some riff raff. I apologize and the updates are coming soon.

The Time Machine Points blog has its first "professional" contributing writer in @midnightonmars, who also happens to be a coworker in our quest to bring joy to the world through prose, or something like that.

Well, technically he's the second since I also can call myself that (it's on my business card). This is not to say any of my other guest bloggers aren't important, cause they are more than worthy and everyone has made this a great evolution on this blog.

And heck, Tony will be the first to tell you even he shouldn't take himself too seriously! That, my friend, is a joke. Thanks for the contribution.

Strangers When We Meet

I was a young boy at the time, relatively speaking. Ten or 12. She was a lady of Paris, and I was in love, of course. She thought me a cute child. Precocious. She kissed my cheek when I brought her a flower at the café. We sat and watched the workmen in the distance lifting a girder to add to the tower, the monstrosity that was dwarfing all of Paris. The eyesore, they called it. The scar. 

She asked me where were my parents, and I proudly told her I was on my own. She did not believe me, but she pretended to be impressed. Then her gentleman caller arrived, and her attention wandered. 

He was taller than I, and darker of hair, and older and stronger. I hated him immediately, and told him so. 

“I felt the same, when I was your age,” he said. “You’ll feel differently when you’re my age. I guarantee it.” 

Now I am an old man, and I sit in the café and watch the young women meet the young men. I watch the boys bringing flowers to the pretty ladies. I see the child being left to consider the construction of the black monstrosity over the city of lights. It is 1888 all over again, or rather, still. 

I take a lemonade over to the table where the boy sits alone. His first crush has just left with a young man. He sulks and does not touch the drink. 

“I remember a day when I was a boy and a young man took away my first love,” I say to him. 

He glances at me only a moment, then crosses his arms and glares at the tower. 

“You look like my father,” he says, and I nod. “Only older,” he adds. “Are you a traveler?” 

“Of course I am. Aren’t you?” 

He thinks about that. I remember thinking about that when I was his age. I recall other things, as well, from when I was a younger man. I recall, for instance, the taste of the young lady’s lips, the touch of her skin, the scent of her hair, the way her chin wrinkled when she laughed, the way she moved with me in the night. And other things. I have a very good memory. 

“When you are older,” I say to him, “you will return to this place and romance a young lady. Be kind to the child who sits with her. Recall how he felt on that day.” 

The boy nods and a slow smile dawns on his face. He takes the lemonade and sips. 

“I know you, don’t I?” he says. 

“Not as well as you will when you’re my age,” I answer.

Hello to everyone that is reading this. Let me introduce myself: My name is Juli. I am 33 years old and I’ve lived my entire life in Connecticut. I am not even sure what else I should tell you but maybe as I explain where I want to go with the Time Machine I will be able to explain it to you so that you can understand.

I’ve thought in great detail about many times that I have regretted things that have happened or things that I never did and should have but none of those is greater than what I actually would do. So with all those other regrets aside I’d go back and do my four years of high school all over again. None of my regrets are as big as this to me.

See I have two younger sisters and my sister, who was the second born was always the favorite and even to this day she still is. Before she was born I was the only grand child on my father’s side of the family and when she came along a lot of things changed for me. As we grew up and the favoring of her became more and more obvious and it was never compliments that I received but more of things like ‘Why can’t you be as smart as your sister?’, ‘You can do better than C’s in school. If your sister can do it you can.” Well, I didn’t look at it that way at all. I really thought there was something wrong with me like as if I had some kind of learning disorder but in the end it was just me being totally lazy.

Here we go again. Thanks to @Megebee for helping out this time. Anyone else want to contribute? Just let me know, as always ....


When thinking about the opportunity to go back in time, my first instinct was to pick a point in my life that I could go back and change, in the hopes it would alter the course of all the bad things that have happened since. But I realized that changing those bad times would change me as well. Out of some of the worst moments in my life have come the greatest blessings. I don’t want to take back those moments, because they shaped me into the person I am today, and I will be the first to tell you that I’m pretty awesome!

So, where would I like to go? I have always been a huge history buff. But there is one era in history that I have studied more than any others. I want to go to Ancient Egypt, say around 2600 BC, and meet the great Imhotep. He was an architect and engineer, said to be responsible for the design of the earliest known pyramid. He was a commoner who was given divine status after death; something typically reserved for much higher men.

The fact these ancient people were able to build such an incredible civilization, make such advancements in medicine, and have the insight to yearn to live for eternity, is awe-inspiring. So much of what was achieved has been lost. I would love to find one thing; just one achievement from that time, that could help people in modern times. Perhaps they had a cure for cancer, or various other diseases? Or a mechanical invention that could make our modern buildings stronger? Or maybe they truly hold the secret to eternal life? I say let’s go find out. It would help to fulfill a second lifelong dream of mine: to make a serious, lasting impact on society. (Okay, who am I kidding? I really just want to be famous!)

Because who wouldn’t want to be immortal?

Tuesdays will forever be known as #TMPTuesday. Yesterday was the first and I went crazy with the points. I lost count, but I have away more than 200, easily. I also gave out 40 to @rab1973 near the end of the night.

I think the opportunity to go back and time would be insanely beneficial to me. I am, admittedly, pretty self-centered. Most people would want to go back to an unbelievably awesome historical event, just to witness its greatness. Not me. I want to go back to my 11^th birthday – because that WAS an awesome historical event, to me.

At 11, I was still young and fairly innocent – untouched by any negative outside influences – besides the fact that my father was a raging alcoholic, and my mother, a crack head. HOWEVER, I, personally, had not yet engaged in any badly chosen activities. I didn’t think I want to. Did I want to turn out like my parents? Did I want to make my own mistakes, nevertheless? Abso-freaking-lutely.

Given the opportunity to time travel and see my younger self, I would take her out for a salad and have a little chat that might change her and, ultimately, my future in a very drastic way. What would I tell my young and impressionable self? Well…

1)   Your vagina is more precious than you will understand until much later in your life, which is why I need you to abstain from sex until you are at least 18 years old. You can still have sex with Jerry though, but, be advised, your son Quincey will be the result of that union. You will be a single mother, to a beautiful child. Here’s a picture. See? Don’t have sex with anyone else. Ever. They’re all evil.

2)   Drugs are BAD. They’re bad and they will eat your brain cells. I promise. Ask me a question. (….) I have no idea. See! Don’t touch them. The people that are doing them might look cool to you; however, in 13 years they will be working at McDonald’s part-time, taking home $24 every two weeks because their fines and child support are deducted from their checks. Good luck living on that, bud.

I have been on a points-giving binge. If you missed out then all I have to say is "where the hell were ya?"

Only a maximum of eight human forms can occupy this particular Time Machine. My resources are a bit limited now, but my friends in high places have allowed me to fashion a pretty nifty machine. Perhaps the future will bring upgrades.

Aside from the minor adjustments here and there, the machine is running smoothly. I have tested it out on several occasions, taking what I like to call "minute trips." You see, with a Time Machine, you can from and back to any point in time.

However, many may not know that there's a slight disconnect if you leave from and come back to the same time. Sorry, Back to the Future, but it gives me a mean headache and bad deja vu. So, I leave and come back a minute later. Easy as pie.

Good question.

You see I am many things. I like to think I am a smart dude, caring, loving, funny, etc so forth. But most of all I am a dork!

To this end I have created the ultimate fun on Twitter. You see, I have a Time Machine and well I need to pick six people to join me and my girl @ComfyOnCloud9 for our awesome "virtual travels."

That means me plus seven. That's the limit. Any more and we'll die. Any fewer and well, we'll die.
